Logo, Web, Web App, UI/UX
QuizShed is a new digital product from EdShed, a company which specialises in learning apps to helps young students learn. They have a variety of successful educational tech products such as MathShed, and SpellingShed. QuizShed is a new offering that is aimin to target a wider audience, not only young children, but teenagers, students and teachers alike. As such the branding needed to reflect this aswell as the user interface and user experience as a whole.
EdShed approached me to help with the branding, and also a robust UX overhaul of the platform. Including the game interface, the website landing pages and also the process of adding new questions, quizzes and lesson pathways.
I began by creating a simple logo design for QuizShed. With this being a brand new product I was given free reign on setting the visual tone of the brand. I went with a bold, yet simple gradient, that was vibrant yet modern.
I used a magnifying glass to create a "Q" which represents the inquisitive aspect of quizzes.
I then progressed onto the wireframing stage, to map out my ideas and work to find the best solutions. The wireframe stage of a project such as this is vitally important, with so many working parts, features, and use cases to cater for, having a series of mapped out layouts to look over and have approved will speed up the design process as a whole, so not to "waste" time going to far into a visual direction that either the client doesn't agree with, or isn't fully researched.
After a lot of experimentation, and revisions to the wireframes I began working on the visual design side of the project - the fun begins!
Check back at the top of the page to see some key screens I worked on for this project, both on the Web App, and also the Game Quiz User Interface too. I created some stripped back Illustrations of various sections to use within the project keeping these illustrations minimal helps them to not stand out too much and distract from the main task.
I also sourced a great collection of illustrations that fit perfectly into the branding from a royalty Free illustration library called Many Pixels, something I will be certainly using more of in the future as illustration can enhance a design soo much.
After the successful handover to the QuizShed development team I am awaiting the project to launch, I'll be sure to check back on the project and keep an eye on it's performance.
The client has hired me to now redesign the other products in the EdShed suite, to bring them all up to the new modern standard QuizShed has set.
